What exactly is a direct lender in the US? (a simple explanation)

In the United States, direct lenders refer to financial institutions that lend money directly to the borrowers.

Direct lender is different from a loan broker. A loan broker does not provide funds directly to borrowers, but rather provides matchmaking services to help borrowers find and match the right lenders to complete the loan process.

There are many types of direct lender in the United States, such as traditional banks, or some independent lenders online (for example, BetterMortgage, NetCredit, etc.).

In general, though, we think it’s safer and more reliable to get loans directly from banks.
